Description

Archaeological trial trench evaluation was undertaken across a proposed south-east extension to Ringstead Quarry comprising ten trenches. Archaeological features were identified in 3 trenches. The evidence comprised of an isolated pit in trench 4 which contained animal bone and pottery of Middle Iron Age date, a ditch in trench 2 with a pottery also of Middle Iron Age date, and an undated ditch in trench 1. Across the remainder of the site no archaeological features were identified.
