Description
In Febuary 2026, McCarthy and Stone Ltd commissioned Cotswold Archaeology's geographical sruvey of land at 19 Herne Road, Oundle, North Northamptonshire. Bartington Grad 601-2 dual fluxgate gradiometers were used. The survey detected magnetic anomalies, which have been classified as archaeological, modern and undetermined in origin. Three potential archaeological features were found and are most likley associated with former field systems, yet the presence of small enclosures cannot be ruled out. Another two anomalies were recorded but their origin could not be confidently reported. However, the survey results were significantly affected by modern magnetic disturbances such as parked vehicles. These intereferences may have masked or distorted minor archaeological features within the zones.
