Description

{1} Site code: SSD95. Trial trenching in advance of the construction of a new car park development. Two trial trenches showed that any medieval street frontage which might have existed along Sheaf Street had been removed by a combination of medieval iron-stone quarrying and recent development. No trace of north-south aligned plots were present. The earliest dateable structural remains were of the 16th century or later. [Trench location approximate]
