Description

{1} Contractors trench immediately north of Victoria Promenade. Not deep enough to penetrate 19th-century levels. Post-medieval pottery found. {2} The Water Board trench did not penetrate the 19th century material except where it finally crossed the road (SP 75586010). Here the 19th-century material covered a silted-up watercourse shown on Law's 1847 map. Site: M146
