Description
{1} Construction by Anglian Water of a new rising main and sewer to the north of Northampton led to a requirement by Northamptonshire Heritage for recording the disturbance of any surviving archaeological levels close to a series of known sites of various dates. A range of techniques was employed both to qualify the nature of any likely remains and to quantify the level of potential damage. The results showed that almost none of the surviving archaeology would be affected and that the potential impact close to known sites would be minimised by the use of chain-trenching techniques of pipe-laying. No new sites were identified. The fieldwork was carried out by Northamptonshire Archaeology between 26th April and 22nd July 1994.
