Description

{1} Construction of a new access road to a farm off Shelton Road provided an opportunity for excavation. The southern part of the trench contained a medieval boundary ditch, later replaced by two walls, subsequently perpetuated by a hedge and a ditch. A heavily rutted post-medieval farm track may have destroyed medieval settlement, possibly fronting the street. Pottery dated as late as the later 14th century suggsting activity had declined by this period. [possibly undertaken in January 1988, not in 1987]
