Description
{1} A single trench, 23m long, was excavated. Some evidence of late Saxon activity as well as medieval terracing. {4} A trench 25m long by 3m wide was excavated to a depth of c1.5m and then the width of the trench was narrowed to 1m and a further 1.5-2m was removed. The trench was then shored using paired trench sheets, 035m set at intervals of 1.5m, braced by accro props. The base of the trench was c0.5 below the water table and had to be continuously pumped.
