Description

{1} During observation of building trenches in the area of Beanfield Lodge in October 1965, the late R Cross was informed that pottery was being discovered in the back gardens of Glyndebourne Gardens during the removal of trees by workmen. This led to the location by Mr Cross in one of the tree clearance holes (at about SP 863878) of a ditch containing Raman pottery and other material running approximately N - S, in an area which was soon to be disturbed further by the excavation of a large drainage trench. His investigations succeeded in tracing the ditch far about 50 ft.
