Abbey Schools, The Abbey House, Market Place
The Abbey School was founded in 1710 and was originally located in the former priory.
The Abbey House buildings were erected in 1826 and were used as a prison, police offices as well as by the school. In 1862 the Charity School and National School merged in the Abbey buildings. In 1887 the school was enlarged and the police no longer utilised the building. This building is now in use by 'Daventry Ex-Servicemen's Club' Film 1, photo 18-19 (1)


Under a scheme for the Board of Education (1912) new schools were built on the site of the old Abbey house. Lending library attached to the school. This two storey red brick building is now standing out of use and boarded up on the ground floor Film 1 photo 22-26.
