Full Description

{1} Brickworks, Long Buckby Wharf
Small brickworks to the north of Grand Union Canal, the works are no longer in operation and the area is a pasture field.

{2} Known operating dates 1861-98.This small yard on the north side of the canal at Buckby Wharf was worked at first by John Thompson and from 1885 at least by Francis Montgomery, owner of the Anchor Brewery on the opposite side of the canal. A new bridge across the canal was erected at this point, probably for access to the yard. At least some of the Thompson Bricks bear the makers name, and are of good quality.
