Full Description
{1} Ironstone Tramway earthworks extending across southern side of fields 9141, 0840, 2625 and part of 5525. Part of former ironstone quarrying commenced in late 19th century. Area of tramway and tipping dock etc at extreme SW corner of field 9141 (cSP73847222) has been levelled though some twisted lengths of rail are present and farmer reports that other fragments of wagons etc are occasionally revealed. Nearly 700 metres of well preserved, if heavily overgrown tramway embankment extends along the southern side of the fields (cSP 73867221 to cSP74547211). Destroyed further east where the tramway went into cutting. Of local importance. Note that a further fragment of tramway cutting, in separate ownership, survives further to the east (cSP74797195 to cSP74807181).
