Many of the original Jacobean interiors survive including staircase, panelling, plasterwork, ceiling details, doors and doorcases, large inglenook fireplaces and domestic scale fireplaces in upper floors. The grounds of the house to the north and west have been utilised by the hospital, but remain unaltered to the south.

{7} In 1924 James Manfield, shoe manufacturer, gifted his mansion to become a hospital for crippled children. It opened in 1925 and soon started to admit adults as well. Manfield closed in 1992 when all the orthopaedic services were moved to the general hospital.
