Summary
Disused railway station on the Leicester, Bedford and Hitchin Railway, opened in 1857 and closed in 1960. Former station and station-master's house of pale squared coursed limestone with red and blue brick dressings, slate roofs with decorative barge boards and brick ridge and lateral stacks. Station building of one storey. Listed Grade II.

Full Description
Former station and station-master's house. Mid C19, of pale squared coursed limestone with red and blue brick dressings, slate roofs with decorative barge boards and brick ridge and lateral stacks. Station building of one storey. Entrance front has round-headed doorway to left, leading to through passage to platform. 4 pairs of round-headed windows, with hood-moulds and fixed lattice glazing. Brick dentil eaves. Platform side has gables to waiting room and similar pairs of round-headed windows ( . -moulds) flanking slitted entrance arch. Panelled doors to 3 rooms still labelled LADIES ROOM, STATION MASTER and BOOKING HALL. Interiors remarkably complete, with panelling and office fittings. 2-storey, station-masters house set at right angles to station, has similar windows (but with sashes) to ground and first floors of gable end. Entrance house and low projecting wing. Similar but simpler single-light window to first floor left.
