Summary

A late 18th century barn and stable south of the southern end of the Old Farmhouse on the southern side of the High Street. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a double pitched Collyweston slate roof. The building has small opposing doors and many triangular ventilation holes. The interior is said to contain a threshing circle.

Full Description

{1} Barn. Late C18. Squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. 5-bay barn with central entrance under wood lintel. 2 tiers of triangular ventilation holes. Stable attached to right may be of earlier origin and has steeper pitched roof. Stable door in gable end. Interior: C18 roof structures with staggered purlins.

Report states that the stable/dovecote is the earlier of the two adjoining buildings, possibly late C17th. Nesting boxes still visible inside, but may be a later introduction (?C19th). The original function of the barn was probably for threshing.
