Summary
Four almshouses that were built in 1749, located east of the school on the north side of Bridge Street. They are constructed of finely squared and coursed limestone with a double pitch Collyweston slate roof with ashlar gable parapets and chimneys. The building has a ten window range of casements under concrete lintels and two recessed entrance porches. A central tablet has the inscription: Viduanum Hospitium 1749. The building was altered during 20th century during which the four almshouses were converted into two almshouses.

Full Description
{1} Four almshouses, now two almshouses. Datestone 1749, founded by Elizabeth Hutcheson, altered C20. Finely squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Each originally 2-unit plans. Single storey. Together comprising a 10-window range of C20 casements under concrete lintels. 2 recessed porches with C20 doors and windows, between window ranges. Ashlar gable parapets and ashlar ridge and end stacks with moulded cornices. Central tablet, with moulded cornice above, has inscription, "Viduanum Hos itium 1749". Converted into 2 almshouses C20. Interior not inspected. Included for group value.
