Summary

A mid to late 17th century farmhouse with 19th century alterations. The building is constructed of square coursed limestone with a double pitch Collyweston slate roof with gable and ridge chimney stacks. The entrance facade faces Back Lane and has a three window range of ovolo moulded stone mullion windows to the first floor and casements to the ground floor. The door is to the left of centre, in a moulded stone surround with a cornice. The left gable has a canted bay and a sash window and the right gable retains a two light stone mullion window and a single light window in a moulded surround.

Full Description

{1} Farmhouse. Mid/late C17 and C19. Squared coursed limestone, part rendered, with Collyweston slate roof. Originally 3-unit plan. 2 storeys. 3-window range of 3-light, ovolo moulded, stone mullion windows, at first floor, and C19 style casements at ground floor, under wood lintels. Window to left has moulded stone reveals. C19 seven-panel door, to left of centre, is set in square head recesses with moulded stone surround and moulded cornice. Ashlar ridge and end stacks with moulded cornices. Chimn y breast projects from gable to left. C19 sash window, in gable, is under flat stone arch. C19 canted bay window, to left. Right gable has one 2-light stone mullion window and one single-light window with moulded stone surround. C19 wing, to rear, in similar style to main range, also C19 lean-to extension between ranges. Interior not inspected but noted as having remains of open fireplace in kitchen, to right, moulded spine beam in room to left and some first floor rooms. Some 6-panel doors.
