Summary

A 17th century house with early to mid 19th century houses ether side is located on the south western side of the High Street opposite New Road. The buildings are constructed of squared coursed limestone with double pitch Collyweston slate and Pantile roofs. The centre house dates from the 17th century and is the probably oldest of the three houses. This house is lower than the flanking houses and is single story with an attic range lit by two gabled dormer windows on the southern side. The street elevation has a central blocked door with a two light casement inserted in the upper half. The house to the right is also probably 17th century. It is two storys and has an ovolo moulded stone mullioned window to each floor and has a Pantile roof. The house on the far left was constructed during the early to mid 19th century and has a central single two light casement window to the upper floor with a ground floor window under a cambered arch with a door on the right.

Full Description

{1} 3 houses now 2 dwellings. C17 and C19 part restored C20. Squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roofs. Originally probably 2 C17 single-unit plans and one C19 single-unit plan. Part single storey, with attic, and part 2 storey. 3 bays. Centre bay is probably earliest origin with central C19 casement under wood lintel, originally a door. Bay to right is C17 with one-window range of 2-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion windows. Bay to left is a C19 one-window range of C19 casements, under shallow stone arch at ground floor. 4-panel door, to right of window, is under similar head. Centre bay is of single storey with attic, flanking bays are 2-storey. Brick and stone stacks at ends and at abutment. Rear elevation has 2 eaves dormers to centre. C20 casement windows to left and plank door, to right, under wood lintels. Interior of No.14 noted as having chamfered spine beams and probably has open fireplace, now blocked.
