Summary

A bridge over the River Welland, north west of Collyweston Village forming the parish boundary between Ketton parish and Collyweston parish. It is built of limestone rubble with ashlar dressings in 1620 and altered during the 18th and 19th centuries. The bridge is orientated east to west and is approximately 40m long and up to 5m wide. Six double stepped arches span the river, the three to the east have pointed arches and the three to the west have segmental arches. Pointed cutwaters that rise above the height of the arches are located on the piers with six on the northern side and five on the southern side.

Full Description

{1} Bridge over River Welland. Dated 1620 and C18/C19. Limestone ashlar. 6 arches. 3 arches to east are double stepped and pointed and 3 to west are double stepped and half round. Cutwaters between arches with stepped copings. 2 buttresses to east end. Plain parapets. Datestone on arch. (Buildings of England: Northamptonshire: p154)

{6} [Former list description] A bridge over the River Welland, north west of Collyweston Village forming the parish boundary between Ketton parish and Collyweston parish. It is built of limestone rubble with ashlar dressings in 1620 and altered during the 18th and 19th centuries. The bridge is orientated east to west and is approximately 40m long and up to 5m wide. Six double stepped arches span the river, the three to the east have pointed arches and the three to the west have segmental arches. Pointed cutwaters that rise above the height of the arches are located on the piers with six on the northern side and five on the southern side. A datestone inscribed 1620 is said to remain above one of the arches. The bridge is listed at Grade II in both Ketton and Collyweston parishes.
