Summary

A late 17th and 18th century house situated on the southern side of Gretton Road that was converted into two dwellings and reconverted during the 20th century back to a single house. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a double pitch thatch roof with brick chimney stacks at the gable ends. The building is single story with an attic range lit by four eyebrow dormer windows. The entrance facade has a four window range of casements beneath the dormers with a lean too porch to the right of the centre. The building to the right has a lean too roof and garage doors with an entrance door on the far left.

Full Description

{1} House. Probably late C17 and C18. Squared coursed limestone with thatch roof. Originally probably 3-unit plan. Single storey with attic. 4-window range, to attic, of C19 style casements under eyebrow dormers. Similar windows to ground floor, under wood lintels. C20 lean-to porch, with slate roof, to right of centre. Bay to far left has lower ridge. Rebuilt stone stacks at ridge and end. Building attached to far right is probably of same build with C20 lean-to roof and garage doors. Interior not nspected but noted as having remains of open fireplace. Converted into 3 dwellings late C18/early C19, and reconverted C20. (RCHM: An Inventory of Architectural Monuments in North Northamptonshire: p85)
