Full Description

{1} Shown on Ordnance Survey map as The Manor House. House. Mid and late C18 and C19. Regular coursed limestone with Colleyweston slate roof. Originally 2-unit plan, now U-shape. Main front is 2-window range of sash windows with glazing bars under wood lintels. 6-panel door to right, with glazed toplights, also under wood lintel. Ashlar gable parapet to left. One bay to right is probably late C18 with tripartite sash windows under wood lintels. Ashlar gable parapet and brick stack to right. Mid C18 range to rear has central rebuilt brick stack and leaded casements. C19 wing to rear left. Interior not inspected but noted as having remains of open fireplace.

{3} As above. Surrounding the property on the eastern side is a stone wall built out of similar materials and with similar stone coursework to the rest of the house. Dating is uncertain but is probably roughly contemporary with the early building period represented in the house. The wall may appear on the OS 1880 map and may be considerably earlier. The gable on the first phase of the house (western end) shows signs of alteration at an unknown period, possibly contemporary with the eastern range (mid C18) additions possibly to bring roof line and pitch into line with that at the western end, although there is still some disparity between the two. Report suggests the gable may have been thatched before it was altered and changed to the present Collweston Slate.
