Full Description

{1} Dovecote and attached walls. Late C17. Squared coursed limestone. Square plan. 2 stages. Raised band between stages. Small square-head doorway. 2- light stone mullion windows in south and east faces. No roof. Interior of dovecote not inspected. Parts of attached walls have built-up coping and form 2 sides of former walled garden to Manor Farmhouse and attached wall (q.v.). Also forming part of former garden layout with walls approximately 100 metres south-east of Manor Farmhouse (q.v.).

{3} A large rectangular impressive structure with well-preserved nest boxes. Owners have been seeking, unsuccessfully to date, grant-aid to re-roof the structure. The dovecote is set within the north-west corner of the northern of two fine limestone walled rectangular yards. Walls not inspected in detail but appear to be in good condition though with recent cement cappings. Carved on a quion alongside gate are two dates, '1912' and '17..'(undecip). Small quantity of unstratified medieval shell tempered pottery found on surface of planting beds within enclosed yard adjoining dovecote. These include at least one green glazed jug handle.
