Summary
The manor house occupies an elevated level site which over looks the High Street on the west side and Manor Street on the east. The house is a two and a half storey building constructed on a north-south alignment. The manor house was built in the 15th century, though there has been some earlier material found on the site which may indicate the presence of an earlier building. The original house consisted of a timber framed open hall to the north of the through passage from which it would be separated by a timber screen. To the south of the through passage would have the service rooms with a solar above. After 1600 extensive alterations were carried out, the timber framed hall was rebuilt in stone, the medieval walls were rebuilt and a stone porch was added to the front entrance. By the end of the 19th century the building was a good size farmhouse with eight bedrooms, a single parlour, a kitchen and four service rooms. The manor house is built of regular coursed limestone with 20th century plain tile and slate roofs.

Rear elevation of 3-window range has 2 casement windows under wood lintels and one late C19 oriel window to far left. Mid C19 square stone bay to right. Pair of central glazed doors with lattice porch. Interior not inspected but noted as having panelled window reveals.
{4}The architectual survey of the manor house suggested that part of the existing building dates to the 15th century. Two moulded stones of the 12th century date, re-used as the jambs of a doorway, may attest to an earlier origin. Survey done by B. Giggins.
{5} Parts of a 15th century solar measuring 4.9m x 6.5m have been identified within the fabric of the existing house. It was probably originally divided from a timber-framed hall by a through passage. Two moulded stones which had been reused may date to the 12th or 13th centuries.
