Full Description

{1} Rectory now house. C.1727-30. By Francis Smith for Dr. Euseby Isham. Lias ashlar with limestone dressings and slate roof. Double depth plan. 2 storeys with attic. West elevation of 5-window range. Central 6-panelled door has moulded stone and eared architraves with pediment over. Sash windows with glazing bars have moulded stone and eared architraves. Rusticated quoins, ashlar cornice with parapet above. Hipped roof with 3 flat topped dormers and rendered stacks at ridge. North and south elevation of 3-window ranges. Central door with pediment over to north elevation. Interior: Fine C18 staircase with 3 turned balusters to each tread and carved tread ends. Fielded panelled rooms to ground and first floor and C18 and C19 marble fireplaces. Panelling in the Drawing Room is now covered. C18 back staircase has turned balustrade.

{4} [Former list description] Circa 1728. A 2-storey rectangular building of yellow ochre sandstone with limestone dressing topped by a cornice and parapet with a steep pitched hipped roof of slate and stone chimney stacks. There are limestone quoins and limestone architraves to all openings. The main front, southwest, has 3 flat topped dormers, 5 windows to the first floor, ground floor 4 windows and central entrance. The windows, sash in narrow wooden cases, have eared architraves with keystone and a plain sill on two small brackets. The doorway has a moulded-eared architrave with keystone, pulvinated frieze and triangular pediment. The southeast front has one dormer, 3 windows to the first floor and 2 windows and central entrance. The windows have a plain architrave with keystone. Above the doorway is a triangular pediment supported by 2 brackets. The northwest front has 4 windows to both floors, in eared architraves with keystones and plain sills on 2 small brackets. Interior - fine staircase rising in square central well. Good panelling and plaster work.
