Summary

Baptist chapel built in the early 19th century after 1825. Chequered brickwork with slate roof. Single storey with gallery. Three-window range; symmetrical ground floor windows have shallow arch heads with cast iron centre pivot sashes; first floor windows have arched heads with cast iron casements. Central entrance has plank and braced door with simple pilasters and entablature. Hipped roof. Side and rear elevation similar with tall arch head windows. A Sunday school was built alongside in 1887 and the chapel enlarged in 1890. The vestry, kitchen and WC were constructed in the 1920s. The chapel has been converted to office use

Full Description

{1} Baptist chapel. Early C19. Chequered brickwork with slate roof. Single storey with gallery. 3-window range; symmetrical ground floor windows have shallow arch heads with cast iron centre pivot sashes; first floor windows have arched heads with cast iron casements. Central entrance has plank and braced door with simple pilasters and entablature. Hipped roof. Side and rear elevation similar with tall arch head windows.

{4} Built in the early 19th century for a church founded in 1825. The SE front has Flemish bond brickwork with light-coloured headers and cast-iron window frames. A Sunday-school was built alongside in 1887 and the chapel enlarged in 1890.

{5} Building recording undertaken prior to conversion of the chapel into offices. The chapel complex comprises five separate structures: the chapel itself and a Sunday School, vestry and kitchen around an internal courtyard, which contains an outside WC.
