Full Description

{1} Barn. Probably early C18. Squared coursed lias with slate roof. Originally single-unit barn. Central cart entrance now blocked. C20 door and window to far left. Remains of ashlar gable parapets and kneelers. Interior not inspected. Included for group value.

{3} The barn is surrounded by a collection of farm buildings and located immediately north-east of Ecton Lodge farmhouse. It is built off the north-east gable of the main farmhouse, projecting as a rectangular structure of two principal bays and a central threshing floor area with opposed double span doors. The south-east elevation door has been in-filled. A stable area has been incorporated within part of the main structure.
The building dates from the C18th and is contemporary with the main farmhouse. It appears to have been built as a single unit, most likely at some point to have been partially integrated with the farmhouse. It retains some of its original layout, mainly the threshing floor arrangement, raised storage bay and loft. The stabling area to the north-east has been subject to some alteration, but much of its original layout is still perceivable.
