{2} Country House. C16 origins mainly c.1700 for Richard Young. Lias and limestone ashlar with colleyweston slate roofs. Double-depth plan, 2 storeys with attic. Entrance front of 9-window range arranged 3:3:3 with 4 large pilasters between each with entablature with triglyph frieze. Central moulded stone-arch head doorcase with flight of steps has pilasters and pediment over. Sash windows with glazing bars have plain stone architraves. Plinth with four 2-light stone mullion windows. String course. Rusticated quoins at corners. Ashlar gable parapets and 4 roof dormers with pediments. 2 lateral ashlar stacks rise above centre pilasters and ashlar stacks at ends. Late C18 2-window range to left is later with arch head Gothick window at ground floor and sashes at first floor; plain parapet. Elevation to right has 2-storey canted bay. Garden front to rear of entrance front C19 has central 2-storey canted bay. Late C18 wall and outbuildings attached to left of main front. Interior hall has Adam-style fireplace. Staircase may have some C18 balusters reset.
