Full Description

{1} Cross. Probably C15, restored 1897. Limestone and granite ashlar. Original square socket and shaft surmounted on C19 plinth of 2 steps. Shaft has C19 Iona cross with dates 1837 and 1897 to each face. Inscription on plinth, "Restored in commemoration of the 60th year of the reign of Queen Victoria".

{4} Sywell. The remains of a cross. This was probably a churchyard cross as it does not appear that a market was ever held in the village. Some 50 years ago the cross stood at the south-east end of the village on the road leading to Mears Ashby. In 1864 it was moved north-east of the church and in 1897 was again moved east of the church and entirely renovated. The only portions of the old cross still in existence are the massive socket and a short portion of shaft.
