Full Description

{1}In the medieval period the chapel of St Mary stood at the western end of High Street, on a site which had been carved out of a strip of land known as ‘Plumston’s acre’. By 1571 it had gone, and the site was recorded as the ‘plot where the chappell stode’. Agnes Schyrlocke in 1521 left half a diaper cloth to Our Blessed Lady of Pity in the chapel of Daventry, and her best ‘keyrchewe’ to Our Lady of Pity in the parish church of Daventry.

The plot of ground on which St Mary’s chapel was later built was carved out of the High Street frontage.
