{1}There were two distinct road networks in medieval Brackley, one radiating out from the Old Town and based on what may prove to be a Roman road running on the line of Goldwell Lane, the other determined by the main Oxford to Northampton road.

The Old Town had at its core the oval enclosures of Goldwell Close and the churchyard.
