Full Description

{1}The two tenement rows immediately north of the Banbury Turnpike appear once to have been part of the furlong to the west which was enclosed and the tenements laid out at right angles to the original orientation of the strips. The slightly angled tenements in the northern of the two rows may result from the restrictions of the change in alignment of the main street.

{2} Stone footings were recorded in one of the trenches. While thay may have been associated with the wall which forms the current boundary of the site, the presence of a possibly unquarried fragment of limestone beneath the wall may suggest that the quarry did not extend beyond the wall, thereby suggesting that the footings could have an earlier, possibly medieval, origin.
