Full Description

{1} Double ring ditch, visible during aerial photography.

{2} Cropmarks of a double ring ditch. Aerial photo no. NCCAP:SP8066/009-11

{5} A circular anomaly 25m in diameter, likely to represent the ring ditch of a denuded Bronze Age round barrow.

{8} The ring ditch was 25m in diameter, with only the eastern arm seen in Trench 69. There were two possible graves within the Ring Ditch. Neither of the graves were not excavated during this phase of works. The ditch was 3.2m wide and 0.98m deep with a profile comprising a ‘U’shaped base with eroded upper edges. One grave was located near the centre of the ring ditch and was aligned southeast to north-west. Although not seen fully in the trench, it measured 1.5m long and at least 0.65m wide. The second grave was located 5m to the east and was orientated north to south.
