Monument record 875/0/2 - Possible Roman/medieval Enclosure (Morphed Aerial Archaeology Interpretation)

Cropmarks of a sub-rectangular enclosure visible on aerial photographs. Geophysical survey has suggested that there are also internal ditches. Fieldwalking survey in the adjacent field recovered significant quantities of both Roman and medieval pottery. Crop/soilmark: Good quality photography.

{3} A magnetometer survey was undertaken over the area of the cropmark as part of a training exercise for CLASP. The enclosure ditches were identified along the north and west sides but modern pipes and rubbish obscured any meaningful results along the southern side. Two internal ditches may have also been identified.

{4} Fieldwalking survey was undertaken in the field adjacent to the enclosure. Significant quantities of both Roman and medieval pottery were recovered. The medieval pottery predominantly dated to the mid-late medieval period.
