Monument record 3274 - Possible Post Medieval/Modern Agricultural Activity

Cropmarks of possible field boundaries and trackways that may form part of a wider field system. Interpreted as medieval/post-medieval during the Northants NMP. Geophysical survey has indicated that at least some of the boundaries are actually buried services, although a small rectilinear enclosure and parts of a larger rectilinear feature have been recorded.

{1} A series of undatable cropmarks are not certainly of significant archaeological origin.
Elements of a rectilinear ditched field system in the vicinity of the previously excavated Romano-British building, extend into the western side of the proposed minerals extraction site. Their alignments do not conform with those of the excavated ditches but this may simply reflect the limited character of the original excavation.

{2} (SP896599) A ditch on AP in 1978.

{3} Geophysical survey has identified a small rectilinear enclosure and parts of a larger rectilinear feature. The small enclosure is c14m by 13m. Some elements of the c-axial system identified as cropmarks appear to be buried services.
