Description

{1} The present assessment forms the first phase of an evaluation requested by Northamptonshire County Council in connection with proposals by Pioneer Aggregates (UK) Ltd for sand extraction from land to the west of Bozeat, February-March 1996. The study has shown that the area contains remains of Romano-British date along with several undated cropmarks of which some are probably natural. The site was first visited in December 1995 when all 6 fields affected were under arable cultivation. No earthworks were observed. Vegetation cover prevented detailed surface examination by fieldwalking.
