Full Description

{3} Archaeological evaluation confirmed the presence of the trackway.

{4} NCCAP: SP7159/005-6.

{7} The Roman trackway at Upton aligned east to west was observed for nearly 1km across the excavation area. An early Roman brooch and two sherds of Roman pottery suggest an early date for the construction of the track. An area of cobbling had been laid down where the trackway crossed a palaeochannel. It was 6.5m across the entire distance, defined by opposing drainage ditches.
