Full Description

{2} A broad, deep ditch runs north-south across the earthworks. It appears that the ditch is a late feature bounding the western edge of an area that has been ploughed and returned to parkland in more recent times. It is possible that this was done in the C18th when the hall was built and the park created.

{3} Two intermittent linear megnetic anomalies correlate with the location of a hollow way recorded on earthwork and AP surveys. It is still clearly visible on the ground as an unmistakable linear depression.

{4} High resistance parallel linear anomalies correspond to an extant ditch. It is visible on the magnetometer survey as anomaly. However, this is evident on the ground even across the area of response to the building suggesting a re-cutting after the demolition, probably to restore access to the church directly S of here from the hall. Between the two anomalies lies another linear high resistance anomaly, presumably also relating to the ditch: perhaps the compacted earth of a path at its base?
