Full Description
{2} The name Mill Hill and Mill Close on the high ground to the east of the Hall (SP743793) sugest that there was once a windmill here. No mill is shown on any surviving map so there if there was a mill here it had gone before 1739. However, despite the land being old permanent pasture, there are no convincing remains of a mill here. A circular depression, some 5m across, 1.5m deep and with a gap on the west side and with upcast around part of the perimeter, is situated on the edge of the hill top. This may be the site of a mill but does not have the features characteristic of the remains of a former post-mill.
