Type and Period (1)

Full Description

{1} Pottery recovered as follows:
1 x 1100-1400 Shelly coarseware
2 x 1100-1400 Miscellaneous Sandy coarseware
5 x 1250-1600 Potterspury ware
6 x 1700-1899 Miscellaneous wares
The lowest levels produced medieval pottery demonstrating that the Romano-British and Iron Age pottery was not recovered in-situ. However the presence of both types of pottery may idicate continuity of use, whilst the recovery of early medieval material from the adjacent pit might indicate further continuity right through to the end of the medieval period.
