Monument record 9890 - Open Field System, Deanshanger

The common fields of the parish were enclosed by an Act of Parliament of 1772. In 1600, there were four named fields.

{4-9} Ridge and furrow field systems of medieval and post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks levelled earthworks and cropmarks and were mapped as part of Historic England’s North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project. Located within the parish of Deanshanger, within the project area, and centred at SP 76771 38615. Earthworks of ridge and furrow field systems with plough headlands covered a large proportion of the area of the parish but remain only along the west bank of the River Great Ouse. Quarrying and arable land use have removed or levelled earthworks. This area of the project contained less coverage of ridge and furrow compared to other parishes where it was almost continuous in the 1940s but very low earthworks of plough headlands, or possible former field boundaries, visible on lidar coverage suggest that it may been more extensive before this.
