Monument record 726/0/111 - Late Iron Age/ early Roman settlement features

{1} One ditch at least, with possible gate posts, seemed to have had its origins in, or just before, the Roman conquest period, and produced late Iron Age pottery. Later traces of ditched back yard plots, with simple timber structures and pebble surfaces were recorded, mostly from the later 1st and first half of the 2nd century. Finds included sherds of a carrot amphora and a Samian non-spill inkwell.

{6} A single late Iron Age Belgic ditch, possibly associated with gateposts discovered during excavations at Bury Mount in 1984.
