Full Description

{1} Two curving positive magnetic anomalies would appear to form part of an enclosure.

{2} This site comprises two positive linear anomalies representing short lengths of ditch. One is roughly C-shaped and measures c 10m across. The other, which is straight, lies parallel to the northern arm of the ‘C’ and is c 14m long. The date and function of these ditches is uncertain, but they might represent parts of an Iron Age or Romano-British enclosure which was never fully completed.

{3} Two trial trenches were excavated in the area of the anomalies identified during the geophysical survey. In Trench 22 there were four pits, one of which contained burnt bone, possibly indicating the presence of a cremation. In Trench 23 there were two parallel ditches and a possible burial.
