Full Description

{1}Stanford home of Cave family for over 500 years; ancestors of present occupants Lord & Lady Braye.

{2} 1737 - Sir Thomas Cave "added a large pile of building, consisting of two quadrangles, and containing all kinds of convenient offices requisite to a country seat, and made many alterations, and additions of a kitchen-garden, plantations, wate etc in the park" (from the notes of Sir Thomas Cave).

{3} The hall was built by Sir Roger Cave between 1697 and 1700.
