Full Description
{1} Archaeological evaluation of Field 3 of the A43 Corby Link Road project. The south of the area contained three archaeological features including Iron Age ditches in Trenches 10 and 67.
{3, 4} Archaeological excavation identified a single-phase mid-late Iron Age farmstead which was abandoned prior to the Roman period. The settlement was laid out within a rectangular enclosure, subdivided into smaller plots. Within the plots there were three roundhouses, a four-post structure and several pits. A holloway, at least 35m long and 12m wide aligned north-east to south-west extended beyond the north-eastern limit of excavation.
The site's principal southern boundary was recorded for 80m in the excavation. It continued beyond both the eastern and western excavation limits.
