Abstract/Summary

Northamptonshire Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation comprising a geophysical survey and trial trench excavation on the line of the proposed A43 Corby Link Road, in October-November 2005. The discovered features consisted of an isolated ring ditch in Trench 33, Iron Age ditches in Trenches 10 and 67, and two Roman ditchers, one in Trench 2 and one in Trenches 41 and 69. The features appeared to be scattered with no obvious concentration. The potential for early medieval settlement, two Roman roads, and ironworking remains had been identified in previous desk-based assessment, but there was no evidence of these features in the fieldwork.
