Full Description

{1} An oval positive anomaly, reflecting a probable ditched enclosure measuring approx 18m by 12m with a possible south-facing entrance. A curving anomaly, aligned north-south indicated an internal division in the eastern half of the enclosure.

{3} Trench 11 confirmed the presence of a ditched enclosure identified by the geophysical survey. At its eastern end the enclosure fditch was 1.75m wide, 0.75m deep, U-shaped with a flat base. Iron Age pottery and animal bone were recovered from the fill. The western side of the enclosure ditch was 1.35m wide, 0.65m deep, U-shaped and had been recut. It showed signs of deliberate backfilling. Sherds of iron Age pottery were recovered.
Dividing the interior of the enclosure was an internal ditch, 1.10m wide, 0.5m deep and V-shaped. Its fill contained Iron Age pottery and animal bone. Also located within the enclosure was a pit or gully terminal measuring 0.9m wide by 0.15m deep, and contained frequent charcoal, sherds of Iron Age pottery and burnt bone.
