Full Description

{1} Three tria trenches were excavated on land adjacent to Stratfrd Road. Three robber trenches were recorded. Robber trench F1991 was linear (1.8m x 0.6m x 0.05m), orientated north east - south west with moderately sloping sides and a flattish base. It contained mid-13th - early 14th century pottery. It may have been associated with F1003.
Robber trench F1003 was linear (1.8m x 0.88m x 0.09m), orientated north west - south east with moderately sloping sides and a flattish base. It contained mid-13th - early 14th century pottery. F1003 was simliar in form and parallel to F1007.
Robber trench F1007 was linear (1.8m x 0.87m x 0.15m), orientated north west - south east with moderately sloping sides and a flattish irregular base. It contained no finds.
Two post holes representative of structural remains were recorded: both were circular (0.25x0.24m and 0.3x0.12m) with steep sides and concave bases. The fill of both contained limestone and one also contained an iron fragment.

{2} Subsequent 'strip, map and sample' excavation revealed ten more features; a medieval/post-medieval kiln or oven, two medieval ditches, four medieval pits, a post-medieval limestone culvert, and two undated limestone rubble walls.
