Summary

Archaeological observation was undertaken during development on the north side of Brixworth Road. Stone foundations of probable 18th-19th century buildings were identified. Stray finds indicate some activity potentially on-site from probably the 12th century onwards, but with the majority of the material being late 17th-early 18th century date.

Full Description

{1} Archaeological observation was undertaken during groundworks for development on site. Wall foundations were identified on the south frontage of the site At least two phases of stone buildings were identified on site. In the western extent of the site the foundation may be part of an being ancillary structure associated with the rectory and therefore potentially of 18th century date. The building on the south frontage to the east, however, is most likely later and part of the range of buildings shown on the late 19th century map
Stray finds recovered from during the work additionally indicate some activity potentially on-site from probably the 12th century onwards, but with the majority of the material being late 17th-early 18th century date.
