Monument record 7853/0/1 - Late Bronze Age/early Iron Age pit alignment

Part of a prehistoric pit alignment aligned north-west to south-east found during development

{1} A sub circular pit, 1.3m in diameter and 0.6m deep, was recorded in the centre of trench 2. One piece of flint core was recovered which can be broadly dated to the Neolithic period and may be residual.

{2} Subsequent excavation found that the pit found during the evaluation was part of a pit alignment. A 25m length of pit alignment aligned north-west to south-east comprising nine pits. Very few finds were recovered. Only one small sherd of pottery weighing 1g was recovered with this being undiagnostic in date but broadly consistent with the suggested date of the pit alignment
