Full Description

{1} A shallow scarp (marked ‘D’ on the earthwork plan), up to 0.4m high, leads from the northern side of the gate at the south-west corner of the Orchard, towards the Norwell, probably indicating the edge of a track from the gate to the well. Near the centre of the field D meets two well-defined ditch-like features (marked ‘E’ and ‘F’ on the plan), 4.4m and 5.9m wide respectively, and up to 0.5m deep. F continues the line of the track D towards Norwell, but now ends abruptly some 35m short; the gap has probably been infilled, but 8m south of the well house a small depression (marked ‘Q’ on the plan), up to 0.85m deep, may be a continuation.
