Type and Period (1)

Full Description

{1} In existence by 1950s but not shown on first edition OS mapping, therefore created post 1880s. No longer in use.

{2} Well-defined limits to areas of magnetic noise which form a rectangular pattern across the field. These probably represent hardcore tracks relating to former allotments. A strongly positive C-shaped anomaly in the north east corner of the field may relate to a burnt feature.

The remains of a modern brick structure, 2.5m wide, was recorded in trench 1. A modern gully was found in trench 3, measuring 0.7m deep and 0.27m wide. The strongly positive crescent-shaped anomaly in the north east corner of the site could relate to the brick remnants. This remnant and the gully could relate to the field's former use as an allotment.
